Home Sweet Home : Favorite Hershey Must-dos

Growing up in Hershey, I never realized how sweet it was. Now every time I go home, I have to hit up my favorite spots! Here are my favorite must-dos in Hershey, PA that aren’t the main attractions!

Tröegs Independent Brewing

With great food, better beer, and a fun and relaxed atmosphere. Tröegs is one of my all-time favorite breweries. In the summer you can sit outside in the beer garden, or in the winter check out the tasting loft inside. For a great behind the scenes tour of the beer making, it’s only $10 for a 45 minute tour that includes a beer and some tastings.

I suggest trying Dreamweaver or the Sunshine Pilsner, and one of Adam’s favorites is the Tröegenator. And it’s always fun to do a tasting of whatever new Scratch Series they’re brewing.

Watch out it gets super busy on the weekends!

Located off of Hersheypark Drive.

Desserts Etc.

Nutella Bomb. Yes. It’s as amazing as it sounds.

Desserts Etc. is on Chocolate Ave and has a large selection of delicious desserts. They even have keto and gluten free options.

My favorite drink to grab is their super smooth nitro cold brew, and on a bright sunny day it’s a perfect place to sit outside on the deck or patio and enjoy the weather. If it’s cold out, I suggest grabbing a hot cocoa and cozying up inside.

The same people that own Desserts also own The Hershey Pantry which is a great spot for breakfast or lunch!

The Hershey Hotel

There’s so many reasons why the hotel is amazing to visit in Hershey.

You can grab a meal at 1 of the 3 restaurants, The Circular is my favorite, get some coffee and dessert at the Cocoa Beanery, or just grab a drink in the Iberian Lounge. The salted caramels are to die for, and the service is awesome. The Signature Chocolate martini’s are a must try.

Hanging out on the veranda is one of my favorite summer activities at sunset, and on the occasional night there’s Jazz on the Veranda where you can dance the night away to some live music. There’s also other events at the Hotel throughout the year that are always fun to attend.

Cassel Vineyards

For great wine amongst great company the Cassel Vineyards is a cute and cozy way to get out of downtown Hershey. More of a local attraction, the vineyard is close to downtown only about 5 minutes drive from Hersheypark Drive.

The tasting room is a small room with a bar where you can do a tasting of 5 wines for $5 or you can try 3 reserves for $5. And you get to keep your tasting glass!

Chocolate World

Hershey’s Chocolate World is a must, mostly to stock up on chocolate to bring home! But there is actually a couple things I love to do at Chocolate World that never get old.

You can also get on the Chocolate World ride and learn about how chocolate is made. The cows are new, but it’s going to be okay, you still get a piece of chocolate at the end. Or what I loved doing most growing up was taking the Trolley Tour. You get a tour of the town and learn all about how Milton Hershey built the town, and how it has become what it is today. It’s really fun, and there’s singing.

The milkshakes at chocolate world are amazing, and it’s really pretty on the inside with lots of plants, my favorite always.

It’s generally an awesome place to check out if visiting Hershey. You get 3 hours free parking too!

Milton Hershey Campus

I’m biased because I’m a Milt, but I think that learning about how Hershey came to be the chocolate town it is, and how special and unique it is, is important to anyone’s visit to Hershey. Milton Hershey was an amazing man with a crazy vision, and he should be celebrated for all he has done, not just for the town but for all of us Milts too.
